Significant Drop in Emergency Calls for St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Department in 2024

SAINT JOSEPH, Ill. (WCIA) — St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Protection District had a decrease of over 100 calls for service in 2024 after a record number the year prior.

In 2023, Fire Chief Josh Reese reported that the fire protection district responded to 522 calls for service. That year was also their 75th anniversary.

2024 was a much quieter year over the phones, as St. Jospeh-Stanton Fire only received 414 calls. These calls were broken down into the following categories:

  • Medical calls: 254
  • Public assist: 34
  • Regular alarms: 30
  • Rescue: 43
  • Still investigations: 44
  • Working fires: 9

This drop off in calls was a decrease of 108 from the previous year, or an over 20% decline. The fire protection district took to Facebook to thank its members for assisting in responding to these calls for service.
