Volunteers hung flyers at Orange Park businesses with pictures of the teen who was last seen on Dec. 1.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. — Hundreds of community members in Clay County came together Sunday to try to reunite a family.

They spent the day searching for 15-year-old Alyssa Umbaugh, who disappeared in early December.

“I just want to make sure that her face is being put out there and being fresh and no one is going to forget that this child is still missing,” said Brittany Griffin, a coordinator with TKS, the group in charge of the search.

As a mom of a teenager herself, Griffin felt compelled to help TKS organize a search for Alyssa, who’s been missing for more than a month.

Griffin says they were so overwhelmed by the amount of people who showed up to help, that they had to reprint flyers three times to keep the search groups stocked up.

“So many people are passionate and can relate, so many people with similar stories have come out to share their testimonies with us, have shared their testimonies to support the family,” said Griffin.

Ultimately, they were able to hang 1,000 flyers all around the area where Alyssa was last seen – near I-295 and Blanding Boulevard.

Those flyers describe Alyssa as 5 feet 7 inches, about 90 pounds with shoulder-length brown hair and braces.

“We’ve even had people who are door dashers come out and ask for flyers so that way, each time they deliver orders they can give flyers to the community,” said Griffin.

Griffin is asking anyone who sees Alyssa not to approach, but instead to take photos and video if they safely can and call law enforcement.

“We’re really just hoping this continues to get out and her face continues to make it everywhere,” said Griffin.

They spent the full day searching Sunday with the last few groups returning as it started to get dark.

An organizer said they don’t have any information on any future searches at this point.
