Signs Paige DeSorbo Would Have Never Given Up Her NYC Life To Move To Charleston For Craig Conover

Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover’s living situation was a little unconventional for a couple that was reportedly in such a committed relationship, but for a long time, Paige maintained that it wasn’t because they were having problems. It just meant they prioritized different things.

However, certain obstacles eventually become unavoidable. The Southern Charm star lived in Charleston, and Paige loved NYC too much, and while they did their best to make it work, it was clear neither of them was going to give up their lifestyle for the other. Paige, in particular, was never going to leave NYC, and looking back on it, it was painfully obvious.

The reality TV power couple really thought living in two different cities was not going to be a problem, but of course, it eventually was.

Paige lived in New York City while Craig lived in Charleston, and she never thought about leaving her city life behind. For a lot of people, being long-distance would be an obstacle, but Paige thought it was a good idea for them, and said she liked “living in two places.”

“Honestly? [I’m] still keeping on,” Paige said in July 2024.”I love to cosplay as a rich southern woman. I’m like, ‘Sorry, I’m just gonna fly up to my New York City apartment, and then I’ll be back down.'”

She said that she and Craig were on the same page and that he liked having part of his life in NYC, even though he never really got very familiar with the city.

“I think Craig loves saying, ‘Oh yeah, we live on the Upper West Side,’ I don’t think he really even knows what it means,” she laughed. “Like, if we put a map in front of him, I don’t think he could point it out. That is fun for me to watch him say that, so I like that.”

Paige Liked To Have Alone Time

While they loved living in two places, it seems Paige liked to live apart a little more than Craig did, and that might have contributed to their breakup. Craig respected her need to have time alone, but it sometimes hurt her feelings.

He said that they were “never really apart” as they alternated between Charleston and NYC, but they sometimes each stayed in their places, and back in 2023, he said that Paige “loves her time apart.”

“She gets two or three days to herself, and she’s very open about being like, ‘I like those days,'” he revealed. “I’m the sensitive, dramatic one so I have to be like, ‘It doesn’t mean she doesn’t like you, Craig. She just likes her alone time, and that’s OK.'”

Still, just because she liked her alone time, it doesn’t mean she wasn’t committed to their relationship. And while she was probably never going to make Charleston her forever home, she made a huge effort to build a home for them there.

“It feels like home finally,” Craig said of his place in Charleston. “Paige did all of the interior design, so it looks really nice, and she feels [at] home there.”

“When me and Paige first started to date, the house was still in shambles. I think this house is finally to the level where I can start to look at the future and the future of me and Paige’s relationship.”

Paige Put A Lot Of Effort Into Her NYC Apartment

Let’s be honest, New York is part of Paige, and she was never going to give it up (nor should she). She loves the city life, and she made it clear with how much effort she put into leaving her mark. In April 2024, she moved out of her apartment and into a Victorian-style abode. At the time, she was very much still with Craig, yet she was planning her future in New York.

And she went all out!

The Summer House star was very excited to show the world how her new apartment was a reflection of who she was at the time, which was very different from her last place.

“My last apartment was all ivory and black and gold and […] I’m just so over it,” she said at the time. “I want no black in my apartment, which is so crazy. My vibe is very French girl. I have bangs now, so I’m like, ‘Let me just be a French girl in her apartment.’ That’s my new decor. Love a velvet couch, I’m thinking.”

Paige shared many pictures online of her classy, elegant new house, with the caption “home,” so clearly, she was planning to make New York her forever home, with or without Craig.

While Paige and Craig obviously loved each other, sometimes love is not enough when two people have different goals in life. While Craig loved his quiet life in Charleston, Paige’s place was always in the city that never sleeps, and it was time to part ways.

“I also want to be classy about it and say everything in the correct way, because I don’t want things to be misconstrued that we hate each other, or something happened, or whatever,”
Paige said in her
Giggly Squad
podcast
. “It’s really just two people growing and changing and things that they want in their lives changing.”

It’s good that they managed to stay amicable, and hopefully they will both find what they’re looking for.
