MSNBC’s Symone Sanders-Townsend on Sunday criticized a recent event featuring a documentary about President-elect Trump’s ally John Eastman that occurred at the president-elect’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

“This is sickening,” Sanders-Townsend said on “The Weekend” in a clip highlighted by Mediaite. “This is sickening. I am sick.”

Those at the Saturday event included Trump, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as well as Trump administration picks Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) and Scott Bessent.

“What Donald Trump did last night is a disgrace to this country,” Sanders-Townsend said. “It is a disgrace to the Constitution.”

Eastman, who has been a lawyer for the president-elect, was at the center of Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the election in 2020. He was a driving force behind the legal strategy trying to subvert the election results in multiple important 2020 states, featuring the usage of slates of alternate electors to sway the election in the president-elect’s favor. Eastman’s plan also hinged on former Vice President Mike Pence replacing the real electors for fake ones, with the Trump ally writing memos that pushed the pressure campaign on Pence forward.

“They’re letting you know where their values are, what they think, and frankly, that if the president-elect was not successful in this last election, that they would have done it again,” Sanders-Townsend said of the Mar-a-Lago event.

At the Saturday event, Trump also praised Meloni, calling her “a fantastic woman.”

“This is very exciting. I’m here with a fantastic woman, the prime minister of Italy,” Trump said.

“She’s really taken Europe by storm, and everyone else, and we’re just having dinner tonight,” he added.

The Hill has reached out to the Trump transition team for comment.
