AUGUSTA, Ga. () – An Augusta woman is behind bars for allegedly neglecting her mother.

According to reports from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Tyrossale Peak was the caregiver for her 84-year-old mother.

On December 30th, deputies were called to the home on the 2900 block of Rollingwood Drive for a welfare check.

Upon arrival, they spoke with Peak who said that her mother lost a lot of weight, but was well. She also told deputies that her mother was under hospice care and was last seen by a medical professional in June.

When deputies went to check on the patient they reportedly smelled strong bodily fluid odors and noticed that she required medical attention.

Deputies called EMS to assist and they found that the woman was stuck to the mattress due to untreated bedsores.

EMS and the fire department were able to cut part of the mattress and remove the patient.

Tyrossale Peak was been arrested and charged with Neglect to a Disabled Adult.
