HCSO: Suspect shot man in hip in Hawkins County

HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has issued a warrant for a man’s arrest after a shooting on Sunday.

According to the HCSO, deputies responded to a call in the 2000 block of Clinch Valley Road in Thorn Hill. When they arrived, they reportedly spoke to the victim, who had been shot in the hip.

A news release from the sheriff’s office states the victim told investigators that he and William Milam, whom he lives with, had an argument the day before regarding bills and rent.

The victim and Milam, 60, had reportedly not spoken on Sunday. However, the victim said Milam approached him outside and pointed a gun at him.

The victim claimed that when he tried to walk away, Milam fired the gun and struck him in the hip.

According to the HCSO, Milam fled the scene after the weapon was fired.

The sheriff’s office reports a warrant was issued for Milam on charges of aggravated assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony.

Anyone with information on Milam’s location is asked to call 423-272-4848.

The HCSO stated in the release that no further information was available as of Monday morning.
