The reason why Jeremy Strong wore that green bucket hat to match his outfit at the 2025 Golden Globes

There’s a method to his madness!

Jeremy Strong stood out at the 2025 Golden Globes in a turquoise Loro Piana velvet suit and matching bucket hat — catching the attention of fans, and even Anne Hathaway, who jokingly compared the star’s look to her character from “The Princess Diaries.”

But sources exclusively tell Page Six that the “Succession” star, 36, wore the hat for a very specific reason: He was covering up his “wild-looking” hair for his role in the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” with Jeremy Allen White.

A source exclusively tells Page Six: “Jeremy is wearing the hat right now because he’s playing Jon Landau in the Bruce Springsteen movie.” And we hear he had to return to the set the next day.

Landau, 77, is Springsteen’s longtime manager.

Method actor Strong is known for disappearing into his roles, and the balder Landau has a, let’s just say, much more sparse hairline than the actor playing him.

The insider added of Strong’s bucket hat look, “because his hair looks so insane [for the role]… because he’s filming that movie, the hat is because he’s covering the crazy hair style playing Bruce Springsteen’s manager. That’s what he’s covering up.”

Either way, the eccentric suit and hat look got “tons of fashion love from a lot of the magazines,” said the insider of Strong’s look — which we hear the star kept secret from even those close to him before he walked the red carpet at the Golden Globes.

After the Globes, GQ reported that Strong “has become one of Hollywood’s most reliably idiosyncratic dressers,” while the Cut figured of the look, “It’s actually so bad it might be good — and knowing what we know about Jeremy Strong, that’s probably exactly what he was going for with this look.”

Vogue crowed, “the most memorable menswear moment went to Jeremy Strong, who pulled off a minty green suit and matching bucket hat. Wacky and fun!”

Strong has also been razzed for adhering to colors off-screen that his “Succession” character Kendall Roy would wear, navy and brown. Our insider joked that his turquoise look, “was kind of a ‘screw you,’” to those who pegged him as only wearing a drab palette.

The Springsteen biopic, directed by Scott Cooper, is based on the 2023 book “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska” by Warren Zanes.

Strong’s costar in the movie, White, won a Golden Globe for his role in the hit series, “The Bear,” but did not attend the awards.

Strong was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in the Donald Trump movie, “The Apprentice.”
