Zara Tindall narrowly avoided serious injury this week after a horse reared up and landed on her during a photoshoot in Australia.

The royal, 43, is currently on the other side of the world for the Magic Millions Races – an event she is an ambassador for.

She and husband Mike were snapped beaming on the sandy beaches of Surfers Paradise, with crowds gathering to land a glance at the royals.

But it was during a PR event that Zara has a lucky escape – when a horse came down on her.

The near-miss unfolded during a photoshoot at on the Gold Coast, where the royal posed in front of three horses which all had jockeys sat on them.

In the video, exclusively obtained by MailOnline, the 43-year-old can be seen holding the reins of two of the massive animals – beaming with a smile ear to ear.

But, suddenly, a third horse rears up, lurches forward and comes down hard on her shoulder.

The royal was knocked to the side and visibly shaken up as the jockey in charge of the steed in question tried to regain control of the animal.

Luckily, the daughter of Princess Anne managed to jump away just in time to avoid serious injury.

The scare comes just six months after her mother was kicked in the head in a riding accident and left with memory loss.

And, just weeks after that, Zara took a tumble from her horse at the Burghley Horse Trials too – as her husband and three children watched on.

Zara was competing at the event in Stamford, Lincolnshire, when she fell during a cross-country event in September.

She came off her horse Class Affair at Rolex Corners, knocking her out of the competition, but thankfully both Zara and her horse were unharmed.

Just before, she was nearly unseated jumping into the Trout Hatchery but she managed to hold on.

The family has had weeks of horror with horses – as in June Princess Anne was kicked in the head by a horse.

The Princess Royal, 74, suffered a bruise under her left eye and ‘can’t remember a single thing’ about the incident.

Anne was taken to hospital with minor head wounds and concussion but has since returned to royal duties.

Zara and Mike are frequent visitors to Australian shores and were last in the country last year.

The pair spent Christmas back in the UK before recently returning Down Under for the Magic Millions.

Zara and Mike aren’t working royals and don’t take money from the Sovereign Grant and fund their lifestyle through various brand deals.

In 2012, Zara was announced as the first Magic Millions Racing Women Ambassador.

Magic Millions has been a regular fixture in Zara’s calendar since that year, when she became its patron following her Olympic silver medal win in London.

She now travels to Surfers Paradise in Queensland every year for the Gold Coast Yearling Sale, seven days of auctions which culminate in a major race meeting where all contenders are horses bought at previous Magic Millions auctions.

Leaving their children and the miserable British weather behind, the sporty couple will participate in the 10-day equestrian carnival on the Gold Coast.

Zara will show off her skills on the polo ground while her husband, who hosts a weekly podcast with James Haskell and Alex Payne, will provide his witty commentary at the glitzy event.

They will also watch the show jumping and beach racing events.

Brand experts have said Zara could be netting ‘millions’ from the deal.

During their trip to Australia last year, Zara and Mike were seen at luxury boutiques and taking in wine tours.

The married couple speak fondly of the country as it is where their love story began.

They met at Sydney bar in 2003 while Mike was ‘drowning his sorrows’ after being cut from the England World Cup squad and Zara was on a gap year.

The pair have been married since 2011 and have three children – Mia Grace Tindall, 10, Lucas Tindall, three, and Lena Elizabeth Tindall, six.

During a trip Down Under in 2020 they even rang in the New Year in Sydney with an A-list crowd including Rebel Wilson
