RICHLANDS, Va. (WJHL) — The CNX Foundation donated $24,000 to nine first responder departments in Southwest Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia.

“We are pleased to be able to assist our first responders in meeting some of their needs,” CNX Resources Vice President Brian Green said in a news release. “In many cases, the departments indicated they would use the funding received toward match money for other grants the departments have sought.”

The donations will help fund the needs of the following departments:

  • Big Rock Volunteer Fire Department: wireless communication headsets
  • Slate Creek Volunteer Fire Department: gas monitoring equipment and turn-out gear
  • Knox Creek Volunteer Fire Department: portable speed bumps, safety vests, LED warning lights and LED wands for traffic control at night
  • Phelps Fire and Rescue: hoses, nozzles, pike poles and spanner wrenches
  • Pike County Sheriff’s Office: safety vests, flares, lights and laptop computers
  • Bradshaw Volunteer Fire Department: red lights for trucks
  • Iaeger Volunteer Fire Department: radios
  • Hanover Volunteer Fire Department: battery power for extrication equipment
  • Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office: body cameras

“We appreciate all the first responders in the communities where we have well and pipeline operations in the three-state area,” Green said. “Making these donations is just a small way for us to show that appreciation.”

The donations were delivered before the end of 2024 and marked CNX’s second round of donations to first responders.
