A woman is in critical condition after she was shot while sitting in a parked car on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called to Trees Road in Tallebudgera about noon today over reports of shots fired.

A 33-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound in the centre of her back and taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a life-threatening condition.

She was tonight in a critical but stable condition.

9News understands one other person was in the car at the time.

Police are questioning several people who were at the scene, including some people who were responding to an online ad for furniture.

Several more people are believed to have fled the area.

Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information, including any dashcam vision in the area at the time, is urged to contact police.
