CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) – A busy week for Eastern Illinois basketball continued on Tuesday.
The Panthers had their third of four home doubleheaders in an eight-day span. Tuesday night’s duel with SIUE in Groniger Arena saw a split decision.
EIU women’s basketball won 69-56, led by a career high 23 points from redshirt sophomore Ella Lune. The Panthers extended their winning streak to five with the win and improved to 8-6 overall, 5-0 in conference play. Plus, Marqus McGlothan’s team is now 6-0 at home on the season.
Afterwards, EIU men’s basketball lost a close one. The Cougars won 60-57. EIU was led by 14 points from Zion Fruster and a near double-double for Kooper Jacobi. With the loss, EIU falls to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in league play.
Both Panther basketball squads are back in action on Thursday, Jan. 9 to round out the homestand against Tennessee Tech.
