A woman is undergoing drug and alcohol testing after she drove onto tram tracks in Sydney’s west before mounting the footpath.

The 38-year-old woman veered off the road in Parramatta, into tram tracks and mounted the footpath just metres away from restaurants at 3am today.

Passerbys caught the moment on camera as witnesses rushed to her aid.

The woman was uninjured and she can be seen in the footage pacing before she flees.

Police caught up to her shortly after, taking her to Westmead Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

This morning, local businesses were left with debris to clean up outside their shops.

“The vehicles are not allowed in here and it’s so surprising that she drove in here,” one local business owner told 9News.

“If this incident occurred in peak hours it would have posed a real risk to my customers and my staff as well…I’m grateful that no one was hurt.”

No charges have been laid yet.
