Detectives have charged an alleged coordinator of a contract killing after uncovering what they claim was a murder plot in December last year.

NSW Police uncovered the alleged plot targeting a 30-year-old man living in Sydney’s CBD in December 2023.

Five people have already been charged in relation to the alleged plot, with police arresting a sixth man during a vehicle stop in Miranda, in Sydney’s south, at 7.35am today.

Detective Superintendent Peter Faux alleged the 32-year-old man was heavily involved in the plot.

“We are alleging that those five males were conducting surveillance on that intended victim, working out a pattern of life… some of those males were (allegedly) going to be the shooters,” Faux said.

“We’re alleging the male arrested today was one of the primary coordinators of the attempted murder plot, he was responsible for putting together a part of the contract.”

He also alleged the group took out a contract to carry out the murder.

A number of items were seized in a search of the man’s home in the Sutherland Shire after the vehicle stop.

The 32-year-old was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station, where he was charged with conspiracy and agreeing to murder a person.

He was refused bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court today.
