MICHELLE Obama has been criticized online after she failed to show up for Jimmy Carter’s funeral
The former first lady is a noticeable absentee at the funeral service in Washington, DC.
Carter’s funeral is being held 10 days after the former president died.
Some have cruelly lashed out at Michelle Obama and alleged she couldn’t be bothered to show.
Dozens of fans have asked for updates on Michelle’s whereabouts.
One even joked if Barack Obama had left her at home.
“Where is Michelle Obama?” another posted.
Funeral watchers pointed out that Barack was the only ex-president to show up without their spouse.
While speculation rumbled online about Michelle’s whereabouts, CNN journalist Jeff Zeleny explained she had a scheduling commitment.
“She’s still in Hawaii,” he said.
Zeleny revealed Michelle is on an “extended holiday.”
Meanwhile, Donald Trump and his predecessor, Obama, were seen smiling.
Some viewers claimed they were “too busy” being fascinated by the interaction involving the 44th and 45th presidents.
“People are so busy looking at Trump and Obama, they are missing the most important question,” one said.
“Where is Michelle?”
Obama is seated next to former First Lady Laura Bush and his predecessor, George W. Bush.
Bush is seated next to Hillary Clinton and his predecessor, Bill Clinton, who served as president between 1993 and 2001.
Trump also shook hands with former vice presidents Mike Pence and Al Gore.
TRUMP AND PENCE MEET AGAIN
It’s the first time in four years that Trump has met Pence.
Trump did not attend Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021 as he jetted off to Florida.
Meanwhile, a masked Mike Pence watched Biden get sworn into office as the inauguration was held at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
Pence certified the 2020 election results on January 6, 2021 – despite Trump’s demands to send the electoral votes back to the states.
A slew of politicians are at the Washington National Cathedral for Carter’s funeral service.
Carter spent the final two years in hospice care before his death.
Steven Ford, the son of ex-president Gerald Ford, will deliver one of the readings.
Carter defeated Ford in the 1976 presidential election, paving the way for his only term in office.
The funeral is being held at a time when the US is on high alert following the New Orleans terror attack and the Tesla cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas, Nevada.
