HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office believes the body of a man found on Tuesday is that of a shooting suspect.

According to the HCSO, a man’s body was found on Tuesday with the help of the Stanley Valley Fire Department K-9 unit.

The sheriff’s office stated in a news release that while the man’s identity has not been officially confirmed yet, “it is believed to be William Milam.”

Milam was the suspect in a Sunday shooting that resulted in another man being shot in the hip in the Thorn Hill area. Milam, 60, had allegedly approached a man he lived with the day after an argument over bills and pointed a gun at the victim. When the victim tried to leave, Milam reportedly shot him.

The body was found in a wooded area with the help of the K-9 unit.
