Rod Stewart confessed he knows exactly how his eight children will react when he dies.

The Maggie May hitmaker, who turned 80 today (January 10), has eight children in total from his three marriages – Sarah, Kimberly, Ruby, Renee, Liam, Sean, Alastair and Aiden. He shares Kimberly and Sean with his ex-wife Alan Stewart, while eldest child Sarah was from a relationship with ex-girlfriend Susannah Boffey.

Rod welcomed Ruby with ex Kelly Emberg, and had Renee and Liam with his ex-wife Rachel Hunter. Lastly, he and current wife Penny Lancaster welcomed Alastair and Aiden.

Rod is grandfather to Kimberly’s daughter Delilah, Ruby’s son Otis and Liam’s son Louie.

But writing in his autobiography Rod, the star admitted that his collection of stuff will have his kids going spare.

Rod has been an art collector for years – becoming “arch-enemies” with Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, who also collects Pre-Raphaelite paintings and is “very hard to compete with”. Rod explained: “You need to love what you’re buying. There’s no satisfaction in getting your hands on it otherwise.”

As for what his children will do with all the artwork, Rod is under no illusions. He wrote: “No doubt when I die, my kids are going to say, ‘What the f*** are we going to do with all this stuff?’ and then flog it as a job lot on eBay.

“However, all of them have, at some time in their lives, gone round the house counting the t**s, or counting the swords, so there’s definitely been an educational value there.”

His son Alastair showed a particular interest in a painting of the martyred St Sebastian, with Rod admitting: “He asked me what was going on there and why that man was naked and shot through like that, and it was very satisfying to be able to explain to the little chap the whole story – that it was because he had missed a penalty.”

Rod even sends himself to sleep by counting how many paintings he has, admitting by number 130 he’s usually nodded off.
