A Nevada man called 911 on himself after he allegedly shot and killed his ex-wife’s girlfriend in Las Vegas.
Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen, 41, was denied bail after a court appearance following his arrest in connection to a fatal shooting that took place on Jan. 3. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in a press release that Rodriguez-Guillen was charged with murdering Adriana Herrera, 40, and shooting his ex-wife, who was not named. Herrera was reportedly the other woman’s romantic partner, and Rodriguez-Guillen allegedly threatened the couple several times over the last two months.
In documents obtained by KLAS, a local CBS affiliate, police responded to a 911 call about a shooting — which was committed by the caller, Rodriguez-Guillen. He remained at the scene in east Las Vegas until police arrived. He was promptly taken into custody while medical personnel found the two women with gunshot wounds in a car nearby. Herrera had several gunshot wounds to her body and head and was pronounced dead at the scene. Rodriguez-Guillen’s ex-wife was taken to a nearby hospital for a gunshot wound to the hip and is expected to survive. She identified her ex-husband as the shooter.

The documents stated that during an interview at the hospital with Rodriguez-Guillen’s ex-wife, she explained that while they had divorced in 2013, they continued their romantic relationship and raised seven children together. About a year and a half ago, she stated that she met Herrera and they had an “on-again, off-again” romantic relationship, going back to her ex-husband in between. She told police that about two months ago, she permanently ended her relationship with Rodriguez-Guillen and he “did not take the breakup well.”
According to police, Rodriguez-Guillen reportedly told his ex-wife and Herrera that he “was going to kill them and send them to hell.”
On the day of the shooting, Rodriguez-Guillen allegedly followed his ex-wife and Herrera as they drove around the Las Vegas valley. According to police, Herrera stopped her car in the middle of the street, causing Rodriguez-Guillen to drive in front of the car to stop it from going any farther. He exited his car carrying a rifle. He then allegedly fired into Herrera’s car several times and shot Herrera in the face when she attempted to confront him. His ex-wife told police that she didn’t believe her ex-husband was aiming at her, only Herrera.
The ex-wife also told police that after shooting Herrera, Rodriguez-Guillen brought out a handgun and threatened to kill himself. When he realized that a bullet had hit his ex-wife, he lowered the gun, apologized, and called 911.
When questioned by police, Rodriguez-Guillen refused to answer questions without an attorney present. He was taken to the Clark County Detention Center where he is being held without bond. Rodriguez-Guillen was charged with 13 felonies including open murder, attempted murder, and two charges of kidnapping. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 19.
