While Glenn Close earned an Academy Award nomination for her role in The Big Chill, her co-star Kevin Costner was completely cut out of the film.

Close appeared on Thursday night’s (Jan. 9) episode of Watch What Happens Live, where a fan asked if it was actually Costner who played the corpse of a man who had committed suicide at the start of the film.

“It was Kevin Costner as the body that was being prepared,” she confirmed. “Yes, it was Kevin because he was supposed to be in the movie. He was in the epilogue and they cut the epilogue.”

But according to Close, director Lawrence Kasdan ended up giving Costner a second chance at fame in his next film.

“Larry Kasdan, who was the director, co-writer of The Big Chill, felt so badly — because Larry is such a good person — that he made him a star in Silverado,” she told host Andy Cohen. “He put him in Silverado and it made Kevin a star.”

Another film that earned Close an Oscar nomination was The Natural.

When Cohen asked the actress to name her best onscreen kiss during a game of “Plead the Fifth,” she said, “Robert Redford in The Natural. I only got to kiss him once … No, maybe we did two takes. But I also threw him out of my apartment in that movie. But I ended up with him.”

Out of her long list of Academy Award nominations, Close was also asked which one she felt she was most deserving of an Oscar. “All of them,” she savagely answered, earning a high five from Cohen.
