Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kenneth Bernard Woodridge, Jr., 24, an inmate at the Alachua County Jail, has been charged with 40 counts of violating his pre-trial release conditions after allegedly calling his victim 1,464 times on the free jail phones.

Woodridge was originally arrested on July 20, 2024, on domestic violence and burglary charges, and his bail was set at $115,000. At his First Appearance hearing, he was ordered to have no contact with the victim in that case (this order is referred to as a “pre-trial release condition” although Woodridge remained in the jail; the condition applies whether or not the defendant is released).

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Detective that investigated the case, Woodridge allegedly contacted the victim by phone “immediately after attending First Appearance,” and the victim told him he was not supposed to be calling her because of the no-contact order. He allegedly continued to contact her and told her to schedule visits with him. The victim reportedly scheduled visits under a different name but participated in 17 video visits. Woodridge allegedly called her directly 1,464 times; phone calls are free to inmates but are paid for by taxpayers at 2.9 cents per minute.

Woodridge has been charged with 40 counts of violating pre-trial release conditions, and Judge Adam Lee added $200,000 to his bail ($5,000 per count). Judge Lee also ordered that Woodridge’s phone and video privileges be limited to calls with his attorney.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
