() The wildfires that continue to burn around Los Angeles County have halted the production of several popular television shows including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “NCIS” and “Hacks” and have resulted in the cancellation of several Hollywood events.

Film LA, which is the permitting agency for production shoots around Los Angeles, said in a statement that due to the wildfires that have brought “unprecedented risk to life and property,” “personnel resources ordinarily available” to support film production may not be available due to the local state of emergency.

The statement also said that the Los Angeles Fire Department has specifically instructed that all permits for filming across Los Angeles communities of Altadena, La Crescentia, La Canada/Flintridge and unincorporated Pasadena be withdrawn. The agency said that other permits may be revoked.

Variety reported that although the sound stag;les where production has been halted are not affected directly by the fires themselves, the air quality is dangerous to the health of local residents.

Several production companies, including NBC Universal, which includes shows including “Hacks,” “Loot” and “Suits: LA;” CBS Studios (“NCIS”, “After Midnight” and “The Neighborhood”); Warner Bros. (“Abbott Elementary,” “All American”) have closed due to the fires, Variety reported.

NBC Universal officials told Variety that all of the major motion pictures the company has in production are currently being filmed outside of Los Angeles, the report indicated.

Disney-20th Century Fox which produces “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” has also shut down production, the report said.

The halt in production of the hit TV shows comes just more than a year after a nearly five-month strike that affected filming schedules around Hollywood. An agreement was reached in November 2023 after five days of marathon negotiations between unionized screenwriters and studios.

Variety also reported that several premiers and other Hollywood events have canceled events due to the wildfires, which have burned tens of thousands of acres and are responsible for at least five deaths.
