Lori Vallow Daybell, who is representing herself in the her Arizona cases of conspiracy to commit murder, told a judge on Friday she was ready for trial despite accusing the prosecution of impeding the defense.

Vallow Daybell is charged with conspiracy in the murder of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, and the attempted murder of her niece’s then-husband, Brandon Boudreaux, in 2019. The Vallow trial is set to begin on March 31 with the Boudreaux trial to begin after that one concludes, KSAZ reported.

Vallow Daybell was found guilty in Idaho of the murders of two of her children and her fifth husband’s first wife and then extradited to Arizona for the conspiracy charges there. She was sentenced to three life terms in prison in the deaths of 7-year-old JJ Vallow, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, and Tammy Daybell. Her husband, Chad Daybell, was found guilty on the same charges and sentenced to death. He is not charged in the Arizona cases.

At the status hearing on Friday, Vallow Daybell argued that prosecutors are withholding evidence “to impede the defense from conducting a defense. This is a violation of the 14th Amendment of our great Constitution, and the defense’s due process rights.”

She claimed motions and responses aren’t being sent to her in a timely manner, demanded that the state’s witness less be pared down, and asked for the discovery related to her extradition.

Judge Justin Beresky asked her what the extradition has “to do with the underlying charges,” and Vallow Daybell replied that she wants to understand “why all this started.”

Beresky told her that all that information is in the grand jury transcripts, which Vallow Daybell said she had read.

Vallow Daybell also said she had “mystery questions … that we are entitled to, according to the law.” Beresky comment that nothing she’d mentioned was actually “relevant in the trial.”

A pre-trial hearing is set for March 18. Also at Friday’s hearing, prosecutors said their case would take a couple of weeks.
