AUGUSTA, Ga. () – On Friday, January 10, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Richmond County Deputies responded to the Smoke Shop located at 2303 Lumpkin Road in reference to a gunshot wound victim.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that a store employee had been shot. Deputies rendered aid until Central EMS arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital, where the victim remained in critical condition until pronounced deceased Saturday morning at 7:35 a.m.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 29-year-old Abdallah Abu Rubeha of Augusta.

An autopsy has been scheduled, according to the Coroner.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) Criminal Investigative Division, along with Crime Scene Technicians and Deputies, immediately began gathering information from the scene.

According to authorities, within hours, investigators developed sufficient information to issue a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) for three suspects and their vehicle. Further investigative work revealed that the suspect vehicle’s registered owner had an address in Waynesboro, Georgia.

RCSO promptly contacted the Burke County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) with this information. BCSO advised that their deputies had just concluded a vehicle pursuit involving the suspect vehicle, which escalated into a foot pursuit with the suspects.

Authorities say, the driver of the vehicle was apprehended, and deputies recovered a black Taurus G2C 9mm handgun, along with items believed to match those stolen during the armed robbery.

In addition to charges in Burke County, RCSO investigators have obtained warrants for Terrance Remon Walker on the following charges:

  • Felony Aggravated Assault
  • Felony Armed Robbery
  • Felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime

Additional and/or upgraded charges will be added to this arrestee and two other suspects, according to authorities.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office CID at 706-821-1020 or email the PIO at PIO@AugustaGa.Gov.
