McALLEN, Texas (Border Report) — Texas law enforcement found 18 migrants inside a tanker truck hundreds of miles from the border.

Guadalupe County Sheriff officials say the group was stowed inside the tank of the 18-wheeler.

The migrants were found Wednesday afternoon about 270 miles north of the border when law enforcement stopped the truck on a highway exit ramp in Guadalupe County, according to a Facebook post by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.

The truck was stopped northeast of San Antonio near the town of Seguin, according to a Homeland Security Investigations spokesperson.

“During the stop, the Deputy subsequently determined that 18 undocumented illegal aliens were concealed in the tank of the trailer. All persons were removed from the tank,” according to the Facebook post.

HSI officials said the group were all adults from Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala

The sheriff’s office reports there were no injuries.

The migrants were given food and water and sent for processing by the Department of Homeland Security.

HSI officials said no further details are being released at this time as the criminal investigation is ongoing.
