MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A Tennessee woman is facing an attempted murder charge after reportedly attempting to shoot her boyfriend before her gun jammed, Memphis Police said. On Jan. 8, police say a male victim told officers his girlfriend, Renell Hardin, had pointed a gun to his face.

He said that he was at Hardin’s residence because she wanted to work on their relationship and for him to “come back home.”

At some point of their reunion, the victim said they began to argue about the light bill. Hardin then became upset and got her pistol out.

The victim told officers that he and Hardin were outside when she allegedly fired a shot toward her neighbor’s residence and another toward her neighbor. That second bullet struck his driver’s side door.

That’s when the victim said Hardin turned around and pointed the gun at his face. He told officers she pulled the trigger but the gun jammed. The victim said when Hardin bent over to re-rack the gun to unjam it, he was able to take it from her.

The victim said he got into his vehicle to leave Hardin’s residence and she followed him. He told officers he then wrecked his vehicle, ran from the scene and called a friend to pick him up.

According to the police report, the victim was not injured but claimed he feared for his life.

Hardin has been charged with criminal attempted first-degree murder, employing a firearm during the commission/attempt to commit a dangerous felony and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.

Her bond information is unknown at this time.
