A Melbourne DJ has died after falling from a balcony at a hotel in Bali’s popular Kuta district.

Staff at a hotel in Kuta found Courtney Mills, 37, critically injured on Friday morning after she fell from the balcony in her room.

Her older sister Kiani and mum Diane flew out to be by her side in hospital, where she died yesterday.

Her death has been ruled a tragic accident.

“It’s just the grief and the mourning towards a life that’s been lost way too early,” Kiani told 9News.

Diane described her daughter as “a wonderful human being” with a “big heart”.

Originally from Frankston, Mills gained success playing at top nightclubs across Melbourne, before taking her music overseas.

Mills sustained critical injuries following the fall in Kuta and passed away in hospital two days later. (Nine)

Fellow DJ Brandon Mangion, also known as Teddy Cream, described Mills as “a ray of sunshine” who “lit up every room she walked in to”.

“The last message I got from Courtney was ‘I’m here for you’ and reading that yesterday broke my heart,” Mangion said.

Mills leaves behind five siblings, her beloved dogs, and friends and fans around the world.

“She lived life to the fullest,” Diane said.

“She had a full life and we’re happy for that.”

“She was really happy, and it showed in the music she produced and the fans she had,” Kiani said.

“The minute she got behind those decks it was like nothing else in the world mattered.”

Mills has been cremated and some of her ashes will be scattered at her second home in Bali, before family and friends back in Melbourne say goodbye.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) told 9News it was providing consular assistance to the family.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” a DFAT spokesperson said.
