SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Jenkins boys’ basketball team is off to a fantastic start in region play. The Warriors are 4-1 in one of the toughest regions in the state.

Jenkins has won four straight contests, but the meat of their region schedule starts soon. They still have two games against Beach and Calvary Day and one more against Johnson and one against Liberty County.

Jenkins looks to make the postseason in boys’ basketball for the first time in four years, according to Coach Terry Hines.

Coach Hines said that he feels his guys are gelling at the right time. He also said that feels Jenkins dropping down two classifications helped as well.

“Coming from (Class) AAAAA dropping down to (Class) AAA,” Hines said, “we saw how the county schools are so much bigger and so much stronger and faster. And that’s the things that we are trying to mimic here at Jenkins this year. (We want) to get our guys at the same speed. Playing in Savannah, in a basketball city, is really giving our guys an opportunity to really showcase our talent.”

Jenkins travels to Beach on Jan. 14. The tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
