Sean “Diddy” Combs is awaiting his day in court — but it won’t happen for several more months.

The music mogul is expected to go on trial for federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution in May of 2025.

Combs was arrested on Sept. 16 after federal prosecutors allege that he abused and coerced people and engaged in “sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice,” according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York.

Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

A new Peacock documentary, Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy, will premiere January 14 and focus on Combs’ rise — and his fall. It includes interviews with the music producer’s childhood friend, former bodyguard, makeup artist, producer, intern and a “Making the Band” winner, who all provide insight on how Combs found fame, then used his money, power and influence to become what some have dubbed a “monster,” according to the trailer, which you can watch above. When Is Diddy’s trial?

Judge Arun Subramanian set his trial during a hearing in October to begin May 5, 2025, according to NPR

Prosecutor Emily Johnson said at the hearing that she anticipates it will take about three weeks to lay out the government’s case against the rapper, while Combs’ defense attorney Marc Agnifilo predicted needing about a week to present their side of the case, BBC reports.

Where Is Sean “Diddy” Combs Now?

While he awaits the federal criminal trial, Combs remains behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, the same facility that once housed R. Kelly before his trial for sex trafficking and racketeering.

Combs’ attorneys have continued to argue for his release on bail, citing what they’ve called “horrific” conditions within the detention facility.

However, Combs was denied bail for a third time at the end of November after Subramanian ruled that there was evidence that Combs could pose a serious risk of witness tampering if released, according to CNN

“The Court finds that the government has shown by clear and convincing evidence that no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community,” Subramanian wrote in his five-page decision to deny the defense’s latest request.

What Has Sean “Diddy” Combs Been Accused of?

Prosecutors have alleged that Combs used his power and influence to create a business empire that allowed him to sexually abuse and exploit women and others for years.

“As part of that criminal enterprise, COMBS, along with other members and associates of the enterprise, committed crimes including sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice,” authorities alleged in an indictment.

Federal authorities contend that as part of the alleged abuse, Combs forced others to participate in “Freak Offs,” elaborate sex performances that could last for days, while he “arranged, directed” and often recorded the sexual activity. If his alleged victims tried to refuse, prosecutors said he threatened to expose the embarrassing and sensitive recordings.

A series of civil lawsuits have also emerged in recent months accusing Combs of assault and rape, with one alleged victim as young as 13 years old, according to NBC News.

Combs’ attorneys have denied the allegations against him and said they are eager to see justice play out inside a courtroom.

“Mr Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process,” his attorney Erica Wolff said in a statement to the BBC. “In court, the truth will prevail: That Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone – man or woman, adult or minor.”
