The clock is ticking on Mets' staredown with Pete Alonso

If you were sitting with all the publicly available evidence, would you come to any other conclusion than this:

Pete Alonso will be kept by the Mets at a price they find acceptable, or they will move on to utilize Steve Cohen’s funds in a different manner, possibly in the near future.

The Mets’ offseason can be divided into two main parts. Initially, they focused on doing whatever it took to bring in Juan Soto, as well as strengthen and increase the depth of their pitching staff. This strategic move was aimed at creating a competitive roster for the 2025 season, allowing them to be patient and strategic in further enhancing the team through additional acquisitions.

Now, in this second phase, Pete Alonso becomes a focal point. However, the Mets are waiting to hear whether Alonso is willing to accept the financial terms they have in mind. If not, they will quickly shift their focus to other options to prevent missing out on potential opportunities.
