According to local authorities, a man was taken into custody on suspicion of starting a brushfire in San Bernardino, California. The fire spread across over 30 acres before firefighters were able to control it on Wednesday afternoon.

The blaze started around 2 p.m. at Little Mountain Drive near Edgehill Drive as a series of destructive and deadly infernos have engulfed parts of Los Angeles and the surrounding area.

No structures were damaged and there were no injuries during the short-lived fire, San Bernardino police said.

The fire burned 34 acres, but forward progress was stopped around 3:30 p.m., the San Bernardino County Fire Department said.

A man was taken into custody and charged with two felony charges, including reckless burning, police said.

The suspect has not been identified.

The arrest in San Bernardino comes after Los Angeles authorities arrested four people over the past week on arson charges for trying to ignite new fires outside the wildfire zones.

Firefighters have battled numerous wildfires in the region with the most damaging infernos taking place in LA County, torching more than 37,000 acres.

More than 10,000 homes and businesses have been ruined and at least 25 people have been killed during the historic blazes.
