TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Martin Luther King Jr. Day is set on the third Monday in January, and Tampa Bay is celebrating in different ways.

Tampa

The City of Tampa’s Martin Luther King Parade will begin at noon at Cuscaden Park located at North 15th Street.

St. Petersburg

MLK Dream Big is hosting a weekend full of celebrating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

The MLK Dream Big Banquet is set for Friday, Jan. 15 with limited seating available. For tickets to the banquet, the community is asked to call 727-321-7919. They are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On Sunday, Jan. 19 MLK Band Showcase will begin at 4 p.m. at Gibbs High School.

The college bands in the showcase are:

  • Florida A&M University
  • Fort Valley State University
  • Albany State University

Tickets for the band showcase are available at Advantage Village Academy.

On Monday, Jan. 20 the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. and go until 2:00 p.m.

The parade will start at 1st Avenue South and travel east to west.

Plant City

The Martin Luther King Jr parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, in downtown Plant City.

The parade will start at N. Wheeler Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard traveling east before finishing at S. Maryland Avenue.

Road closures will start at noon and re-open after 3:00 p.m.

Dunedin

The City of Dunedin is celebrating MLK Jr. on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 8: 30 a.m. till noon.

The celebration will start at MLK, Jr. Recreation Center for a unity breakfast from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

The march and entertainment will begin at 10: 30 a.m. and go on until noon at the John R. Lawrence Pioneer Park.

Lakeland

The City of Lakeland will have its 47th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. parade on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 1:00 p.m.

The parade will start at the intersection of Providence Road and West 14th Street, they will then travel down Providence Road, turn east on 10th Street, and head south on Mlk Avenue before ending at 2nd Street.
