GEORGIA State Senator Colton Moore has been arrested outside the state’s capitol building after he was shoved to the ground by a doorkeeper.
Video captured the moment Moore gets into a scuffle outside the state’s House chamber while trying to defy an order banning him from entering just before he was handcuffed by Capitol police.
As Moore lifts himself up from the ground an officer is overheard telling him, “Come on, come on, its gone too far.”
“It has gone too far,” Moore replied.
“I have an obligation to be in that room. I represent 200,000 people in North West Georgia, who duly elected me to be here today and you’re hindering that.
“Unconstitutional, you have no respect for the Constitution. You have no respect for Constitution, complete disrespect to the Constitution,” Moore fumed at a capitol doorkeeper.
“Sir, don’t cause a disturbance,” a Capitol police officer instructs Moore, as he again attempts enter the chamber floor.
In that moment, at least half a dozen Capitol police officers surround Moore before handcuffing him.
Video footage from outside the capitol building showed Georgia Capitol Police escorting Moore into the back of a patrol car.
Moore’s team blasted the lawmaker’s arrest, saying they are working to ensure his “expedient release.”
“Senator Colton Moore, who exposed and defeated corrupt District Attorney Fani Willis last year, has been arrested by the Anti-Trump Speaker of the Georgia House,” a statement posted on X read.
“Colton is being held in the same Atlanta jail as President Trump.
“We are working to ensure his expedient release. Please pray for all those standing up for freedom and peace for all Georgians.”
Last March, the state’s House voted to exile Moore from the chamber floor after he criticized a painting of late Senator David Ralston, who died in November 2022.
Georgia’s Senate gathered to discuss a bill that would honor Ralston by naming a new academic facility after him on the University of North Georgia’s campus.
However, Moore interjected and called Ralston “one of the most corrupt Georgia leaders we’ll ever see in our lifetime.”
