Kmart shoppers have declared a $99 item the ‘best purchase of the year’ (again!) just 16 days into 2025.

The buy – an armchair which looks far more expensive than it is – promises to add a touch of sophistication to any space.

Nicknamed ‘Marlo’ the chair’s made a huge splash online after one woman declared getting two was the ‘best $198’ she had ever spent.

She revealed the chairs ‘come in flat pack’ but feel super sturdy once they are put together.

And shoppers were excited.

‘They look designer,’ one woman said.

‘Obsessed,’ raved another.

Others revealed they’ve been waiting for their store to get stock after hearing whispers of the new must-buy months ago.

‘I have been wanting these for two weeks, hoping they hit my store soon,’ one woman said.

‘They still haven’t come to my store I really hope they get in stock soon,’ said another.

‘I have been checking online for these, I really hope I don’t miss out,’ said another.

Some New Zealand shoppers were frustrated

‘I see Kmart coming out with so many beautiful things and none of them come out to NZ,’ one woman said.

‘If only NZ got good stuff too,’ said another.
