An Irish bar opened by Boyzone star Shane Lynch has been shut down abruptly without an explanation.

The pub opened in Knutsford, Cheshire, in 2021 and was name D13 after Shane’s Dublin postcode – but by 2023 it had been renamed Rusty Shamrock.

Shane, 48, and his Real Housewives of Cheshire wife Sheena, 44, were the public faces of D13 when it first opened.

The couple’s business partner, movie stuntman Nathan Gerhold, was at the helmas he took on the job of running the pub.

The trio transformed the 300-year-old building into a modern Irish bar, complete with a Guinness Garden and sun-trap terrace.

A year after launching, the Lynches expressed their happiness with the ‘warm welcome’ they received in Knutsford – with the pub being the first Irish establishment to open there.

But in July 2023, the bar was re-branded as The Rusty Shamrock, with Shane reportedly stepping back from the business and Nathan remaining in charge.

The bar remained a popular spot in the town, hosting famous faces such as Shane’s pop star sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch of B*Witched, and regularly featuring live performances from local musicians.

However, just before Christmas, The Rusty Shamrock was closed down after the landlord repossessed the property.

A Notice of Forfeiture posted on the door of Cheshire House stated: ‘Notice is hereby given that on 6th December 2024 the landlord peaceable entered and repossessed this property and the lease which was granted on 12th October 2020 has been forfeited.’

The proprietors of The Rusty Shamrock chose not to comment and the landlords have already secured a new tenant.

They’re planning to reopen it as a bar in February – but it remains uncertain whether it will maintain its Irish theme.

The news of Shane’s pub’s closure comes ahead of an explosive new documentary about Irish boyband Boyzone.

The band and Louis Walsh don’t hold back as they dissect their long-running feud in scenes from the show.

The three-parter, which is set to air on Sky Documentaries and NOW on February 2, gives fans a look at the ‘fame, fall outs and tragedy’ of the band.

Louis formed Boyzone in 1993, when he was inspired to create ‘an Irish Take That.’ After a split in 1999 they re-formed – with Louis at the helm – in 2007 whilst in between the manager also looked after Ronan Keating’s solo career. But in 2018 they had cut ties for good.

A new trailer shows the group admitting they went through some ‘cruel’ times under the leadership of Louis.

Looking back at the early days of their career, Ronan Keating remarks in the trailer: ‘We were a bunch of kids put together. We weren’t perfect, we weren’t polished.’

Louis, who masterminded the lads’ career, then appears on screens with the scathing comment: ‘I prefer ordinary people, because they work harder. And they do whatever you want at the start.’

This was one of several comments made by the Irish manager aimed at the band throughout the clip, which comes amid a long-running feud with lead singer Ronan.

While Louis smugly suggests that he orchestrated the band’s huge publicity, quipping: ‘They believed their own publicity. They forgot I wrote it’.

A synopsis for the Boyzone: No Matter What documentary reads: ‘They were one of the most successful and iconic boybands of all time – but behind-the-scenes, conflict and rivalry, betrayal and tragedy led to their falling apart.

‘Now, thirty years on, all four remaining members – Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Michael ‘Mikey’ Graham, as well as their estranged manager, Louis Walsh – reveal the truth of what really happened, the extraordinary highs of their meteoric rise to fame, and the huge costs that being in a boyband had on each of them.’
