One of the suspects was arrested at Ribault High, a police report said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police used OnStar inside a vehicle to track down the two teens they say murdered two 16-year-olds in June.

Joseph Mixson, 17, and Andrew Robinson, 19, were accused of the double murders and arrested Wednesday.

The 16-year-olds, Travaris Odol and Stanley Merriweather, were found dead from gunshot wounds at the Island Pointe apartments on the Northside on June 9, 2024, a JSO arrest report said. The victims did not live at the complex.

The report said police responded to 1000 Island Point Drive around 4:30 a.m. and the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not find any bullet holes in the building or in any cars.

Witnesses saw from their windows two people searching the victims’ pockets, the report said. Then two silver-colored vehicles, a pickup truck and a 4-door sedan, were seen leaving the complex separately. The vehicles leaving corresponded with 911 calls from the area, the report said.

The truck was reported stolen around 1:30 a.m. from a Southside apartment complex. The vehicle was equipped with OnStar services, the report said, which was active. Using GPS, officers were able to find the vehicle abandoned in the wooded area of 2339 Brooklyn Road. A portion of the report about cellular data was redacted.

Mixson and Robinson were identified after cellular data and physical evidence, the report continued.

On auto theft charges, Mixson was arrested at Ribault High on Sept. 13 and Robinson was arrested at a Northwest Jacksonville home Sept. 14, according to the report.

They are currently being held at the Duval County Jail on charges of second-degree murder.
