CHICAGO Famed Chicago Chef Charlie Trotter’s legacy will be honored with the reopening of his restaurant, his son told affiliate WGN.
On Wednesday, Trotter son’s Dylan Trotter confirmed plans are in place to reopen the same location on Armitage Avenue in Lincoln Park some time this year.
“We will take inspiration from old menus, the cookbook and riff on it,” Dylan Trotter said. “It’s the philosophy of my dad we’re trying to keep alive.”
“A chef has not yet been named,” Dylan Trotter said.
Another iconic Chicago chef, Grant Achatz, is also paying tribute. Through January 19, the menu at his restaurant Next will “revisit classic dishes of the iconic Chicago chef, Charlie Trotter,” according to the website.
In addition, Achatz is involved in a limited-run at the original Charlie Trotter’s location at 816 W Armitage Avenue. Starting Wednesday and running for two weeks, diners can “relive the iconic dishes that defined this Chicago legend in the space where it all began.” It will be Charlie Trotter’s original menu in the original location.
