SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The New Hampstead boys basketball team is 10-9 in their first year under head coach Chris Owens.

The Phoenix look to rebound after a disappointing road loss to Benedictine on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The reining region champs are currently in fourth place in the standings at 2-2.

They have a chance to make a statement on Friday when they host Warner Robins, who is tied for the top spot in the region with Benedictine.

Coach Owens said that he feels his team will be ready for the challenge.

“We are becoming more composed as the game goes on,” Owens said. “They’re learning how I would like to play. We’re going to play up-tempo; we’re running. But their composure has been better throughout the season, and we look to continue to grow upon that.”

New Hampstead looks to pick up a big region win Friday at home against Warner Robins. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
