ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida, it is time to pull down that lap bar and keep your hands inside the vehicle as a big roller coaster forecast sets up over the next week!

Friday

A mix of sun and clouds for your Friday will likely keep highs in the mid to low 60s with mostly-dry conditions. With all the cloud cover, highs will likely only reach the 60s.

Friday night, moisture starts to pick up as a warm front lifts northward. This will bring thicker clouds and about a 20-40% chance of showers across the area.

Saturday

By Saturday, Central Florida will remain in a warm bubble ahead of our next approaching cold front. Expect some sunshine as temperatures warm into the mid to upper 70s.

Sunday

On Sunday, as the front moves south, rain chances and possibly some lightning will increase through the day. Highest chance of rain (60-80%) will be north of Interstate 4 through the morning and clearing south into the late afternoon.

Severe weather isn’t a big concern with this system, but we could see rainfall totals from 1/2 to 1 inches in areas from I-4 to the north.

Next week

Much colder air will move in by Monday morning behind the front. Forecasts continues to show Monday possibly being the coldest day of the season with highs staying in the 40s north of I-4 to the low to mid 50s further south.

Looking ahead to Tuesday and Wednesday, it’s looking like unsettled weather will continue. Rain chances jump to 40-50% on Tuesday as moisture to the south interacts with a front over Florida. Not only will it be rainy, it will also be chilly. We could see wind chills in the 20s and 30s near and northwest of I-4 early Wednesday.

The forecast at this point does remain a bit uncertain for Wednesday morning, but right now, it looks like a cold rain will be possible for our northern areas. Although winter precipitation could be possible for our friends in North Florida, chances for any freezing rain for Central Florida remains very low. Meteorologist Jonathan Kegges explains more on the Florida winter weather next week here.

After that, things should quiet down by Thursday with a slight warming trend (highs in the 60s). Another cold front will approach on Friday, bringing a 20-40% chance of rain once again. Make sure you keep the sweaters and rain gear handy.
