Kim Porter spent years with Sean “Diddy” Combs. The couple’s on-and-off-again relationship brought them three children, and they remained friendly even after their final split. Porter’s first husband, singer Al B. Sure!, claimed that she still had some concerns about Combs. Al B. Sure! said Porter warned him about Combs.

Porter and Al B. Sure! were briefly married and shared a son. After their divorce, she began her relationship with Combs. She reportedly warned her ex-husband to steer clear of her new boyfriend.

“Kimberly said don’t get involved, you will get killed. Even to the point where I remember…,” he said in the documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy (via Variety). “Nah I can’t go into that one. There’s legal proceedings going on right now. But yeah, I will share that at some point. But this is part of evidence and I have to refrain from this part of this segment.”

All Al B. Sure! was willing to say was that he felt he needed to listen to Porter for his own safety.

“Let’s just say, you gotta listen to Kimberly, because not only was she trying to save me, but she was putting her own life in danger,” he said.

Since the documentary’s release, Combs’ legal team has pushed back against these claims.

“This documentary recycles and perpetuates the same lies and conspiracy theories that have been slung against Mr. Combs for months,” his legal team said in a statement to E! News. “It is disappointing to see NBC and Peacock rolling in the same mud as unethical tabloid reporters. By providing a platform for proven liars and opportunists to make false criminal accusations, the documentary is irresponsible journalism of the worst kind.”

Her children have denounced the rumors about her death

Al B. Sure! also expressed doubt that Porter’s death was of natural causes. In 2018, she died of lobar pneumonia. 

“This person is telling a story, this person’s writing a book, this person’s about to tell the truth,” he said. “Why is everybody dead? Oh, it’s a coincidence. Get the f*** out of here.” 

Porter’s children have previously pushed back against any speculation that their mother’s death was suspicious.

“While it has been incredibly difficult to reconcile how she could be taken from us too soon, the cause of her death has long been established,” Porter’s children wrote on Instagram. “There was no foul play. Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful, strong, kind, and loving woman she was. Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories.”

When Porter and Combs split for the final time, she waited until he was out of town to pack up the house and leave in secret. She didn’t think he would have allowed her to leave if she’d broken up with him any other way.

“[T]here was no other way,” she told Essence. “You think he would have let me walk out the door? He wouldn’t have wanted me to go.”

She said she realized it was time to look after her own interests.

“I left because at this point in my life I want something different for myself,” she said. “I invested ten years, I have children, and I’ve always stood by him. But now it’s time for me and what I want to do for Kim.”
