Meek Mill stepped forward to address his fans questioning Drake’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group.

Meek Mill and Drake had a heated beef almost a decade ago which spawned the infamous “Back To Back” diss track. The Canadian rapper came out of the feud with the victor and perhaps that confidence might’ve prompted him to engage Kendrick Lamar in a lyrical showdown. Ultimately, Kendrick got the better of him thanks to the vicious diss track, “Not Like Us.”

Drake is now suing the label that represents both himself and Kendrick Lamar for defamation, claiming that UMG puts his safety at risk by authorizing the publishing of a song with defaming allegations including pedophilia. Some of Meek Mill’s fans call out Drake saying he is a hypocrite since he benefited from a diss track against the Philly rapper in 2015.

“I wonder how @MeekMill feel bout Drake suing… Cause N—as said this n that bout him…. Drake went all out on Meek,” one fan wrote on X. Meek Mill responded to the comment saying that his label at the time told him not to respond to Drake’s diss song, which might’ve been the reason he lost the feud.

“Label told me don’t drop nothing… I went against that and dropped dc4 mixtape ‘Shari Bryant backed me herself’ 90k first week to heat up … I couldn’t make any playlist either that had me confused a lil losing confidence but I knew 80% was campaign! Influence for the net only,” Meek wrote.

Meek Mill earned a lot of support from his fans for his comment, although not everyone agreed on why he lost the beef with Drake. “You can’t blame label for getting bodied by a singing ni–a Meek, you were simply unprepared for that beef, Kendrick was prepared for that man and dealt with him hence the lawsuit is just to save whats left of him,” one fan wrote.

Meek Mill and Drake made peace in 2018, but it’s clear that their relationship would never be the same as it was prior to their beef.

In the meantime, Drake states in his lawsuit against UMG that “Not Like Us” endangered his and his family’s lives and the label is to be blamed for it. According to the Toronto rapper, the label put profits over the safety of one of its artists. Kendrick Lamar has not commented on the lawsuit, but he is not name as a defendant, so he doesn’t need to.
