John Daly sends message to Donald Trump after 'emergency' surgery

John Daly seems to be recovering well after undergoing “emergency” surgery and he has a message for President-elect Donald Trump before his inauguration on Monday.

The two-time major golf champion announced on Instagram last week — including a picture of him in his hospital bed — that he needed hand surgery.

Days later, the 58-year-old Daly was posting a message of support to Trump on the eve of his second inauguration.

“LFGGGG it’s time! God Bless America @RealDonaldTrump!” Daly posted alongside a Time Magazine cover featuring Trump preparing the Oval Office desk with the words “He’s back.”

An avid supporter of Trump, Daly affectionately calls him “Daddy Trump” and had participated in the PNC Championship with his son, John Daly II, toward the end of December.

They finished eighth at 20-under par behind winners Bernhard Langer and his son Jason — who beat Tiger and Charlie Woods in a playoff.

The elder Daly hopes to be back on the course as quickly as possible after his surgery and praised his medical team last week.

“Thank you to Doc (Frederick) McClimans for getting me mended back!” he wrote. “Should be hitting em again soon! Thx for all the messages.”

The surgery was the latest rough go of it for Daly in 2024.

He lost his $1.4 million Clearwater, Florida home during Hurricane Helene in October.

“I’m just glad everyone is healthy, that’s the main thing,” he told the PGA Tour’s website. “You live in Florida, you have to understand that’s going to happen, but not like this. I didn’t think it would be this bad. … “The memories is what you miss when you lose something like that.”

Daly has five career PGA Tour wins to his credit, including taking home the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 Open championship.
