It looks like Prince Harry is heading back to the United Kingdom. The Duke of Sussex is returning for another court appearance, and he will once again fly solo as his family does not normally accompany him on these trips. Harry makes his returns as brief as he can, often staying in the country for no more than a handful of days.

Insiders claim Harry was reportedly offered lodging at Buckingham Palace. However, he declined. Harry later made an “unreasonable” request regarding security, despite that he declined proper protection by opting not to stay on royal grounds.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down from their senior royal roles back in 2020 after they were disappointed in the way they were treated by both the press and the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living in the United States ever since, and when they left the UK, they were stripped of their formal royal security. Harry has since sued Britain’s Home Office and lost, but now, when he returns to the UK, he is not granted the protection he once had (as a result, he refuses to bring his wife and kids over).

For his upcoming visit, where Harry will once again be in the court room, he was reportedly offered lodging at Buckingham Palace. Whether it was a peace offering by King Charles or just something that’s expected when Harry comes to visit remains unclear. It might be something the family always offers up. Harry is opting to stay elsewhere, and he reportedly requested full royal security, which one expert claimed was “unreasonable.”

“I think he will be mildly annoyed that he is not being given full police protection, but this is a step in the right direction as far as he is concerned,” royal correspondent Jennie Bond told Mirror, regarding Harry getting at least some police protection.

However, Bond added that Harry declining the Buckingham Palace offer is not a good look for the prince. “I think it is a PR mistake to turn down accommodation at Buckingham Palace, where security is guaranteed and already paid for,” she said. “It seems unreasonable to expect police protection around a hotel just because he chooses to turn down a perfectly good offer of secure accommodation.”

Meghan Markle and the children will remain in the United States

Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, along with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will not fly to the UK with Harry. For security reasons, Harry has not wanted his wife and kids in the country, and this visit is no exception.

Plus, Archie and Lili are in school now, and Meghan likely doesn’t want to disrupt their schedules. As of late, it doesn’t look like Harry and Meghan are any closer to bridging the gap between themselves and Harry’s family, and likely won’t be making peace with Prince William or King Charles any time soon.
