() Two children reported missing in Ohio back in October have been found in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Aged 8 and 9, the children were taken by their mother from Ohio to the Nordic island nation after abandoning her home in Canton.

The U.S. Marshals Service issued a statement on Jan. 16 confirming they were found in Reykjavik on Jan. 10 after a family member reported the children missing.

Per the release, the children were initially tracked to Denver, Colorado, before the mother, 34, took them to London, England, the Island of Jersey in the English Channel and then a local fishing village in Iceland.

Eventually, they were found by Icelandic police in a Reykjavik hotel. The children were given to the Iceland social services before a family member could retrieve them.

The mother was placed in a hostel, where she was set to remain until deemed well enough to fly back to the United States.

Canton Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, Interpol, the State Department, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and English and Icelandic authorities were all involved in finding the children.
