SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Court documents obtained by News Channel 11 provide more detail into what led to a Sullivan County man’s death during an alleged attempted burglary.

According to an affidavit filed in Sullivan County General Sessions Court, deputies with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) were called to the 300 block of Buffalo Road on Sunday after a reported burglary/shooting.

When deputies arrived, they reportedly found a dead man in the road at the entrance to Sunnyside Acres Trailer Park. The deceased, identified as Nicholas Feathers, was lying next to the driver’s side of a gold Toyota Avalon.

Investigators learned that Feathers had responded to a lot with a woman to confront the mother of his children, the affidavit states.

The mother’s boyfriend, identified as Ronald Price Jr., was at the home as well, and an altercation involving all four people reportedly began. The SCSO reports children were in the home at the time.

Price and the mother told investigators that Feathers approached the home and began banging on the door, at which point Price grabbed his firearm.

According to the affidavit, Price fired one shot through the front door where he thought Feathers was. He later fired two more shots through a window near the door when he reportedly saw Feathers standing there.

Feathers ran back to the vehicle, and Price stood on the porch and shot five more times toward the car, the affidavit states.

Investigators noted that one of the rounds hit a nearby occupied trailer.

“After processing the vehicle as well as viewing the body of Nicholas Feathers, it appeared that the fatal round was shot through the vehicle and struck Nicholas from behind while he was attempting to flee the scene,” the affidavit reads.

According to investigators, there was a camera on the porch that belonged to Price. It was later learned after Price gave consent to a cell phone search that the camera footage appeared to have been deleted, the affidavit states.

Price was charged with second-degree murder, felony reckless endangerment and felony tampering with evidence.

On Monday, the SCSO reported Price was being held in the Sullivan County Jail without bond.
