Lauren Graham spent seven years playing Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls. In 2016, she reprised the role in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. In between, she wrote books and took on several other iconic TV roles. Still, the famed actor remains connected to her Gilmore Girls character — so much so, in fact, that some of her breakfast choices mimic that of her beloved TV role.

Lauren Graham has to start the day with a cup of coffee, just like Lorelai

It has been a long time since fans saw Lauren Graham take on the role of Lorelai Gilmore. Still, the famed actor is forever connected to the role. While Graham and Lorelai Gilmore are different, Graham did admit she shares one thing in common with the iconic character she played. Just like Lorelai Gilmore, Graham has to start the day with a cup of coffee. During a chat with Airmail in August, Graham revealed that she begins every morning with coffee. Often, it’s the only thing she worries about during breakfast. Lorelai’s days were also fueled by coffee.

Lauren Graham isn’t the only actor associated with Gilmore Girls with a penchant for coffee. While Alexis Bledel, the actor who portrayed Rory Gilmore, didn’t care for the morning beverage, Scott Patterson apparently did. Patterson, who played Luke Danes, went on to launch a coffee company despite his Gilmore Girls character refusing to drink the stuff. Scotty P’s Big Mug Coffee has several Gilmore Girls-themed blends.

Lauren, however, does try to keep it healthier than Lorelai

While Lauren Graham enjoys her morning coffee, she gets “ambitious” sometimes. She does try to keep things a bit healthier than her famous character. Graham told Airmail that she regularly enjoys green juice at home. When dining out for breakfast, she orders poached eggs. Graham also takes her vitamins.

The two admissions set the actor apart from her iconic character. Lorelai Gilmore would have never drunk green juice despite Luke Danes’ varied attempts to get her to eat healthier. She surely would have turned her nose up at the concoction. Lorelai also wouldn’t seek out just poached eggs for breakfast while eating out. When Lorelai and Rory got together for breakfast, it was hearty, including pancakes and omelets. At home, they opted for the quick sugar high of pop tarts and coffee over smoothies and juices. Vitamins weren’t on Lorelai’s menu either.
