An Arizona man who drove the wrong way on a major highway and struck a car carrying three teenagers was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

In the early morning hours of Oct. 10, 2022, Vincent Acosta, 27, was driving south in the northbound lane of Interstate 17 and collided with multiple cars, including one that was carrying Abriauna Hoffman, 18, Magdalyn “Maggie” Ogden, 18, and Hunter Balberdi, 19, all freshmen at Grand Canyon University who shared a suite on campus. They were going to the Grand Canyon to watch the sunrise, and Ogden had just celebrated her birthday.
