BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina announced Thursday a man has died for reasons related to the Lowcountry’s winter storm.
A 71-year-old man was outside shoveling snow in the Oakley community of Moncks Corner when he had a fatal medical event, Coroner Darnell Hartwell said.
Snowfall totals indicate Moncks Corner received about 4 inches of snow.
The corner’s office was notified at 10:53 a.m., and when they arrived, the victim was pronounced deceased.
Several first response agencies responded to the incident, including Berkeley County EMS, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Moncks Corner City Fire & Rescue, Central Berkeley Fire & EMS, and Moncks Corner Rural Fire & Rescue.
