The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says the woman was also found with “apparent trauma to her head.”

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman was found dead in a pool of blood along a sidewalk in Jacksonville’s Durkeeville area Thursday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, identified as 33-year-old Sierra McKenzie, was found in the 2000 block of College Circle South around 11:05 p.m. by a person that was driving by.

JSO Sergeant Rudlaff said when first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived on scene, they noticed McKenzie suffered “apparent trauma to her head.”

During JSO’s initial investigation, Rudlaff said detectives did not see any shell casings at the scene.

At this time, no arrests have been made, no one has been detained, nor is there a description of a suspect, according to JSO.

“There’s definitely somebody that’s outstanding,” Rudlaff told First Coast News. “We do not know who’s involved yet. Once we get the victim identified, we should be able to start backtracking, trying to talk to family, next of kin, finding out if they’re in a relationship.”

Anyone with information related to the McKenzie’s death is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
