The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says the man got into an argument prior to leaving the business and being shot at.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot multiple times while leaving a business in Downtown Jacksonville just after midnight Friday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sergeant Dishman said that at approximately 12:15 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 200 block of East Bay Street in reference to the shooting, which happened at 12:05 a.m.

When they arrived, the man identified as 54-year-old Keith Walker, was suffering from gunshot wounds to his back and left shoulder, according to Dishman. He was then taken to UF Health hospital with serious injuries, the incident report states.

Prior to the shooting and the time Walker left the business, Dishman said he got into an argument in which details of it were not released.

Detectives responded to the scene to canvass the area for witnesses and surveillance video, Dishman told First Coast News.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
