Travis Kelce cheekily hits back at NFL haters who call him 'slow' and 'washed' up

Travis Kelce is not bothered by critics who claim he is too old for football. He finds it amusing when trolls criticize his speed or suggest he is past his prime.

“It’s fun, man. As long as I’m going out there and we’re winning, baby, that’s all that matters,” the NFL tight end, 35, said during his Friday press conference, according to video shared on social media.

The presser arrives as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to face off against the Buffalo Bills in Sunday’s AFC Championship game.

Should the Chiefs win on Sunday, the team will earn another ticket to the Super Bowl giving Kelce a chance to play for his fourth ring.

Rumors of Kelce’s potential retirement began circulating in December 2024, after the football star hinted he might be hanging up his cleats.

On his “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce, Travis talked about how the Chiefs’ game in Cleveland, Ohio, earlier this season might have been his last time playing professional football there.

“I don’t know if it’s the last time I’ll ever play in Cleveland, but it kinda felt like I was just giving it one last hurrah before I’m done because I’ve only played there twice in 12 years,” he said.

He also said he doesn’t see himself going back to Cleveland unless the Chiefs “get thrown down there” in the next couple of years.

Travis’ teammate Patrick Mahomes commented on Travis’ possible retirement earlier this week, saying he has “no idea” if their game this weekend will be his teammate’s last time to walk the field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

“He hasn’t said anything to me if he’s thinking that,” said Mahomes, 29.

“I know he signed a two-year extension before the season, it seems like he still loves football. But he also has a great life, as well.”

Mahomes then shared a sweet message for his friend, whom he’s played alongside for seven years.

“Either way, I just appreciate every time I step onto the field with that guy knowing that he’s a true legend of not only the Chiefs, but of the NFL,” he gushed.
