PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. () Cal Fire battalion chief Brent Pascua said President Donald Trump’s visit to Southern California following wildfire devastation is a “morale boost” for the firefighters who have been working tirelessly.

“It’s not over,” Pascua said during an appearance on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.” “I don’t know what Trump can give us, but it’s a morale boost.”

Trump toured the damage caused by wildfires in Southern California on Friday, later expressing that the devastation is beyond what can be captured in images.

Trump says the federal government is behind California ‘100%’

Trump acknowledged he had a “very positive talk” with California Gov. Gavin Newsom once he landed in Los Angeles. He told wildfire victims and city officials the federal government is “100% behind California.”

His comments came after he took an aerial and walking tour of Pacific Palisades, a neighborhood destroyed by one of the recent fires.

On Thursday, Newsom signed legislation directing $2.5 billion in relief to support response and recovery efforts for Los Angeles.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
